Remarks by Yoichi Shimada at the Protest Rally in front of Chinese Embassy
Washington DC
Today, escaping from North Korea is relatively easy than once was. Getting into free world, however, is extremely difficult because of Chinese brutal guards. Beijing is nothing but a co-manager of the living-hell.
We, in Japan, are urging the Abe administration and fair-minded Congressmen to address not only abduction issue but North Korean human rights abuse in general. Because abduction issue cannot be resolved without the change of regime.
Two days ago, with a clear consent of Prime Minister Abe, Deputy Cabinet Secretary Shimomura came to the North Korea Genocide Exhibit over the objection of Japanese bureaucracy, which is afraid of antagonizing Chinese authorities.
I think Secretary Shimomura’s visit was one positive step in the right direction.
We have Rep. Edward Roice and other courageous statesmen in the United States.
We have Governor Kim Moon-soo and other courageous statesmen in South Korea. I believe they are not minority but growing minority.
Let’s fight together. We will prevail.
Thank you.
